Blogging

What is the blog?

According to Wikipedia, "A blog is an exchange or instructive site distributed on the World Wide Web comprising of discrete, regularly casual journal style content sections (posts). Posts are normally shown backward sequential request, with the goal that the latest post seems first, at the highest point of the website page. Numerous blogs give an editorial on a specific subject or theme, running from governmental issues to sports."

The modern blog developed from the online journal where individuals would keep a running record of the occasions in their own lives. Most such essayists called themselves diarists, columnists, or journalese. Justin Hall,, is commonly perceived as one of the prior bloggers. He started individual blogging in 1994 while an understudy at Swarthmore College."

What is blogging? Why blog?

Blogging means to update a blog regularly. Blogging can be fun. It helps to improve your writing, helps to express thoughts and ideas. Everyone may not be able to speak out the things they wish comfortably. So, the comfortable way of expressing anything can be blogging. Many bloggers start blogging considering earnings as a motive.

However, it is a laborious and tiresome task to research and write and you cannot earn much in the beginning. So, most of them quit blogging before they can do well. Some end up earning some money.
Here is a good article from blogmeaning.net about how much do beginner bloggers make by blogging. They struggle a lot for traffic and ranking their website. Some become too obsessed with the idea of earning money by blogging and focus only on making money blogging.

It takes years of exercise to rank up you in the search list. There are many websites which may even show up their fake revenue report and publish it. You get easily carried away by those reports. They get your attention and enrich their page views. I am not stating that they don’t earn, but the fact is that they don’t make much by blogging alone. Revenue report from blogging can be easily drafted and a hypothetical report can be easily well presented. Believe me; I have been in blogging for long.

My story of blogging:

When I first started to blog, I was a newbie and knew nothing about how to blog?’,how to write posts?, how to purchase a domain and hosting plan?’, what to blog about?’, ‘which platform to choose for blogging?’, ‘how to choose a good blog name?’ and many more. I started my blogging career back in 2012 through Google blogger.

The blog contained academic and educational contents. I kept on adding new posts and published them one after another. Within a month, I had 30 posts already uploaded. The problem was that “I did not get any views” for months. I did not know the reason behind and searched.  Finally, found that the problem was “SEO” (Search Engine Optimization).

I searched for hours on the internet on how to set up SEO for blogger and eventually came up with a solution. I did some SEO, then after some weeks, started getting views. They were negligible.

Monetization

I just used to get 2 to 3 views on my overall posts and pages. Some bloggers suggested that Google blogger won’t get more views than self-hosted websites and they are not good for monetization.

While some bloggers consoled me that Google blogger and self-hosted websites earn the same traffic but it takes time in Google blogger.

Then I kept on adding more and more posts. After months of waits and struggle for traffic using different techniques, I started getting enough views. Then I applied for Google Adsense. My blogger site was verified (also read how to verify blogger for Adsense?) and got my ads shown on my blog.

Blogging income:

The income report will be very ironic to reveal. It was just US$ 2.23 Θ after that many time duration when I finally shifted myself to a self-hosted website; www.hamrolibrary[dot]com and redirected everything to the new website. I migrated all my articles and images.

By that time, I already knew that Google blogger wouldn’t yield me much earning. When I first began blogging, it all started as a hobby. But I was lured to monetize my blog when views counted.  It happens to most bloggers and content creators, I think.

Blogging central:

The baseline is, “Create quality content, get traffics, popularize your site, get audience attention and then monetize it.” You won’t fail to earn. If you strictly go for earning at the initial phase of your site, you will quit blogging. There are several other reasons why bloggers quit blogging.

Making money online and making money blogging are two different concepts but both take time, consistency, quality contents, patience and a little sprinkling of luck. If you are blessed with all these, then you will make money by blogging.

But,

if you don’t have these traits, it will be a hundred and ten percent different. You can read our basic guide on ‘how to make money online? and how to earn money blogging? They are free to read and share. :-D

I am earning some from my website hamrolibrary.com just enough to cover my hosting, domain and a cup of coffee per day. After I started using hamrolibrary.com, I understood better about “why self-hosted websites are better for SEO and earning.”

Currently, I am using Wordpress platform and also custom domain on blogger to create and publish my blog posts Here is an excellent post from blogmeaning.net showing step by step guide to creating a Wordpress website. It is a free/ open source Content Management System that powers most of the blogs today.

Top bloggers:

Can you earn from blogging?

Yes, you can. A beginner blogger can expect to make around $5 per month for some months and will grow every day after the later 6 months of your blog beginning time through advertisements. Selling something of value to your audience would make some more but that needs trust and trust needs time. If you are serious, you can reach their level within some years. But, if you are obsessed only by earning, it is difficult.

Above all, Provide quality posts that add value to your visitors.  Don’t just push your articles on media walls if they lack quality. Don’t unnecessarily exaggerate your posts. People will read it once and won’t return back. They will lose their trust upon you.
