Google Adsense

Google Adsense:

In this article, I am going to be showing you how to sign up and set up your Google AdSense account from the very beginning till the end. I will also be telling you how you can verify your site and get Adsense approval without any errors. I will be telling you about the things you need to do in order to get your Adsense ads quickly running up in your blog. The first thing you need to understand is, ‘What is Google Adsense?'

Google AdSense is the ability to run ads via Google purchased ads on your website or your blog. YouTube ad revenue and Google Ad Sense is completely separate now. You can't monitor your ad revenue on ads since you can't look at it. It's in no way related.

So, all of the money that you're going to be making from your YouTube channel will be seen on your YouTube analytics, not via your Google Ad Sense dashboard. So make sure you understand that.

We're going to need our e-mail address and URL of our Web site. And you're also going to need a way for Google to pay you.

Again all of that's going to be dependent on the country that you are in. If you're in the United States, you're going to have different abilities to accept payments as opposed to if you're in a different country. So, let's go ahead and start the process.

So obviously you're going to need a Web site. If you still don’t have a blog or website, then you can refer my article about ‘How to create a blog or website?

How to set up Google Adsense Account?

First, you need to go to Google Adsense and click on 'Sign up now'. In the next screen, you need to fill up your website and email. Go ahead and set up your Web site protocol. And next, you want to go ahead and enter your email address.

You can get helpful AdSense info at that email address. I recommend clicking yes. This is not very spammy and it's very helpful actually. And then once you've finished this page go ahead and click 'Save and Continue'.

Once you've hit save and continue, it will log you into your Google account. This is so much easier if you have a Gmail or a Google related account. You can do it the other way if you have a separate e-mail address but it's much more convoluted.

I highly recommend using a related Gmail or Google account. So if all of this information is correct; your name, your email and the URL of your site just like the screenshot above, leave that there and select your country or territory.

This is extremely important as this is very much related to you getting paid. So you need to make sure that you enter in and input the correct country or territory that you're located. Again all of the different things in this article are going to be relevant to you no matter where you are in the world.

But there may be a few options available for your country that isn't for others. So remember that go ahead and accept the terms and conditions and click Create Account.

Now here's a couple of things you need to understand. The first thing is that you have to meet the payment threshold. You have to meet the payment threshold in order to get paid by Google. So, that number is 100 dollars. Until you reach that threshold, you will not get paid.

You will not see any type of money from Google until you reach that threshold. The next thing is you must be 18 years old or above. So when it comes to running Google ads or setting up Adsense account, you need to understand that you need to make sure that you are above the age of 18 or your parent's signs up for you and then they can deal with that later and give you the money.

Google Adsense Dashboard:

Now, let's go ahead and get through the quick starts. Click 'Get started'. Next, you're going to be able to enter your information and it's going to ask payment address details.
Google-adsense-getting-started
Now, this is going to be the information they use when they go ahead and send you or release the payments for use. This is very important. You need to put your real name in to put your real address.  Now under account type, you're going to see something there.

You can click the pencil and hit the drop-down menu. If you're an individual or a hobbyist, select individual else business. I'm going to do individual for this one.

Enter your name, address, contact details, zip code and then once you've entered in all of your pertinent information there, make sure it's correct. Make sure you spell check and click the blue Submit button down below.

Verifying the site for Google Adsense:

And then once you've entered in your account information, and your payment information, it is going to say connect your site to ads and so it's going to tell you that you can actually use the following kind of code (HTML code).

You can put that on the back end of your Web site. Go into your Website and paste the code between the head tags of your website. That allows Google to crawl and find that code on your site and verify it properly.

If you use Wordpress, then go to your theme edit options from your dashboard. In the header section, add that code just below the <head> tag.

In case you are using a Blogspot or Blogger website or blog, then go to Themes >> Edit HTML options. Click 'Control + F' and paste this [ </head> ]closing tag in the find box and hit enter. Now, just above this code, paste your HTML code and click save.

Navigate back to your Adsense account and click verify. Wait for some time as Google needs to verify that the site is your own property. You need to wait for a day to get a mail which either says that your site has been verified for Google Adsense program or not verified. However, they always tell you the reason why your site was not verified. So, go through the email, check the errors and try again.

How to verify for Google Adsense quickly?

Generally, if you have a Privacy policy page, About us page, Contact page, Terms, and conditions or Disclaimer page along with some non-adult legal posts or article in your blog or website that are getting some traffic are easily verified.

Remember, such pages are absolutely necessary to verify your site for Google Adsense. If you are using a blogspot.com subdomain, then you need to wait for some months until your subdomain is eligible to post ads or your Blogspot subdomain should be getting lots of traffic. With lots of traffic, I mean at least 10K per month. While if you are using a custom domain on Blogspot blog, then the above-mentioned pages and 5 to 6 blog posts are necessary.

I never recommend you to immediately apply for Google Adsense as soon as you set up your blog. That increases your chances of being disqualified for Adsense. You need to post some value-adding quality contents so that Google can trust your consistency and articles.

While in the beginning, you won't be getting any traffic so you won't be making any money out of your Adsense account. So, what is the use of setting Google Adsense account while you don't have any visitors?

Until and unless your blog is getting visits, I recommend not to use Google Adsense. If your blog starts getting hits, then you are more than qualified for Adsense approval. Google wants to advertise on your blog. So, you won't have any trouble then.

So basically it doesn't matter if you're a WordPress user or a Blogspot user. You can do it one way or the other. Now, remember when you're setting up an Adsense account, it is important to understand the things that I told earlier about the threshold and about having to be a certain age and again you need to make sure you're copying the HTML code putting it on the back end of your Website.

That way, Google can go and verify your site because if you're not able to verify your account, then you're not going to be accepted into the AdSense program. So that's how it works.

Now I'm going to hop over to my Adsense account and show you how to manage your ads.
Once you've been verified, there's a couple of things you're going to want to do first. The first thing you want to do is go to the payments tab and click on payments.

Then underneath the payments tab, you're going to see a few different things. You're gonna see your earnings. You're going to see some transactions and then you're going to see how you get paid.

Many people ask me 'can I get money sent by Google via PayPal or stripe or something like that?' As of right now 'No'. Google says they're working on trying to accept more forms of payments. But right now it's only via a cheque account. So, you need to set the payment method at a bank account.

Click the settings icon or the gear icon underneath payments. This will allow you to go through make sure you have all of your information correct as far as your personal and your account information.

 All of this needs to be up and running and in order to see if you have been accepted or your site has been verified, go to 'Sites'. It'll show an overview there. And then if you see a green 'Ready' option by your site, you will then be able to understand that "Yes I can run ads on that specific site and it has been verified".

Click on the 'Home' button and it will take you to your dashboard. It'll show you the performance of your ads. It'll show you how much you've earned so far how much you earned yesterday how much you earned this month, the previous week, last day and so on. All of that good stuff will be on your dashboard on the Home Link.

Setting up Ads in Google Adsense:

In order to create a new Ad, basically, all you need to do is click the 'Ads >> Ad units' and little addition symbol that says 'New ad unit'. Once you've created a new ad unit basically you can decide what type of ad you want to run.
Google-ads-setup
Do you want to do a text at a matched content ad, in feeds ad or in articles ad? I recommend starting with the text or display ads feature.
Create-new-ad-in-google-adsense
Select the type of ad. Give your ad a name. Then decide the size of the ad according to your layout of the blog. However, I always recommend you to keep it as responsive.

Responsive ads fit according to the area or space of your ad placement. Choose the ad style, colors that match with your website's theme color. Then click, save and get the code.
Google-ads-code
You will get the following kind of HTML code/ Script and you need to use this code to show ads on your blog.

<script async src="//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>
<!-- first text ad -->
<ins class="adsbygoogle"
     style="display:block"
     data-ad-client="ca-pub-12345678901234"
     data-ad-slot="2019123456"
     data-ad-format="auto"
     data-full-width-responsive="true"></ins>
<script>
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
</script>

Copy the following code and paste it in the Javascript or HTML widget of your website to show the ads on your blog/ website sidebar. If you want to show the ads within your article, then you can use the plugins like 'Ads Manager' or 'Advanced Ads' for WordPress.

You can also paste the code manually within your blog post. To do that, go to your Wordpress dashboard >> Post >> Create a new post. Toggle the HTML mode to compose the article and paste the script in the writing area. Toggle the normal writing mode back.

You can start writing the article and after a few paragraphs or lines, again paste the script in HTML mode. You can also simply copy the above-posted ad below the next paragraph.

However, you should not use more than 4 Ads in the same post as it is against the policy of Google. You can only show 3 to 5 ads in a single page. If you do, the excess ads will be disabled automatically. Sometimes, it may lead to the suspension of your Adsense account.

Google Adsense Auto Ads:

The best way to use Google Adsense on your blog or website is by using the 'Auto Ads' feature. By using this feature you will be more relaxed than using the manual set up of Adsense ads.

Google will automatically take care of the ads and show the Adsense ads in all the relevant pages and posts of your blog. The ads are responsive and you don't need to bother anything.

Just find the Auto Ads in the dashboard of your Google Adsense and click 'Set up Auto ads".
Google-adsense-Auto-Ads
As you click on 'Auto Ads', you will get a script that you need to paste on your site's theme. Copy the script and go to your theme. Click edit theme/ Edit Html and just below the opening <head> tag or above the closing </head> tag, paste the script and save theme. As easy as that.

As soon as Google's bot crawl and find that code on your site, your blog will start showing up auto ads wherever it finds suitable places. You need to have patience until Google crawls that script on your blog. Good things take time, you know that?

You can also use both manual and Auto ads features of Adsense at the same time to increase your revenue.

Wrapping Up:

Google is tightening the reins with every passing month. So make sure your content on your site is approved by their terms of service and you don't have anything against their policies. If you do, they will revoke your privileges of starting and running ads through their system and let's be real.

People want to try to find new alternatives like Google Ad Sense but in reality, the Google Adsense platform is easy. It's very intuitive. It looks good and be real. That's where a lot more of the money is. So remember that.

And then lastly don't forget that if you aren't of the age of 18 or above and again this may vary depending on the country. You need to have your parent sign you up and then their information will be on your account and they can filter or funnel that money down to you.
